Description
24" (61 cm.) A carved wooden horse in racing pose and having painted eyes and leather
harness,is attached to a wooden two-wheeled car with original blue painted finish richly
decorated with flowers and vines. The cart has two bench seats and stake sides,and two
passengers,each with carved wooden head and hands,painted features,and original costumes.
One passenger drives the horse forward while the other stands on the back seat,his arms
extended,wearing an elaborate wooden fool's cap painted to match the wagon and decorated
with silver bells. Condition: generally excellent,some dustiness to original costume. Marks: AR (?)
trademark (paper label on wagon,unknown if original). Comments: 19th century,maker
unknown. Value Points: enchanting and well-preserved imaginative toy
