4 1/2" (11 cm.) Each has bisque socket head with unique expression,sculpted hair,painted
features with side-glancing eyes (looking at each other),all-bisque body with jointing of arms
and legs,sculpted bent elbows and pointing fingers,painted shoes and socks; with chubby-faced
Max having black bobbed hair and wide impish smile piercing the chubby cheeks,and Moritz
with pageboy curls and topknot,watermelon-slice-shaped smile. Condition: generally
excellent,Max has small chip on upper torso. Comments: Kestner,circa 1915,inspired by the
storybook characters Max and Moritz from the works of Wilhelm Busch. Value Points: very rare
characters in wonderful all-original condition,with factory-original cloth costumes,finest quality
of bisque and painting.
