Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, blue glass paperweight
inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye
corners, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig, very light blown-
leather hollow body with articulation at shoulders, elbows, hip and knees, original kid-wrapped
feet to suggest slippers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Pierre Vincent Clement, his
deposed body style of 1867 featuring a molded hollow-leather doll body that he described as
"the most beautiful, lightest and most rugged made to date". Clement's original occupation as
a leather shoe-maker explains his interest in the subject and the curious stitched on leather
"slippers" on this model. Value Points: very rare doll to find, this example an unusual petite
size with unusual feet covering, with antique costume included.
