15" (38 cm.) All-wooden carved polychromed figure of older woman, brown carved hair waved from face into loosely-formed chignon at the back of her head, deeply-set enamel eyes, aquiline nose, slightly-parted lips in downcast expression, row of teeth, one-piece head and torso, mortise and tenon-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, painted blue stockings and flat black shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Genoese, early-1700s, attributed to the workshops of Anton Maria Maragliano, the deeply-carved facial expression evinces concern, with impressed wrinkles, gaunt cheeks, and is wearing early silk costume.
