28" (71 cm.) Bisque socket head depicting adult lady with elongated face, brown glass sleep eyes, mohair lashes, painted lower lashes, incised upper eyeliner, brushstroked brows with some modeling detail, shaded nostrils, closed mouth in smiling expression, row of sculpted teeth, impressed dimples at lip corners, cheeks and center of bottom lip, brunette mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, original body and body finish. Marks: 1388 Germany Simon & Halbig S&H 12. Comments: Simon & Halbig, circa 1910. Value Points: extraordinary quality of sculpting, bisque, complexion and painting of features. The model itself is very rare but this largest size is virtually unknown, enhanced by distinctively sculpted dimples at lip corners, cheeks and eye corners to enhance the flirtatious yet sophisticated look, wearing wonderful antique costume highlighted by plush mohair coat, silk/mohair collar with faux fox tails and matching purse with silver clasp, very ornate velvet bonnet.
