10" (25 cm.) x 12" box. 6" Popeye. A colorful cardboard box designed with window front to
serve as a theatre setting has a colorful scenery background,printed curtains and
orchestra,scene of customers buying tickets,and is labeled "Thimble Theatre Mystery
Playhouse,starring the one and only Popeye with Wimpy and Olive Oyl",and proclaims "self-
performing actors on or off the stage,No Springs,No Mechanism,No Hidden Winding". The
figures are one-piece paper mache with characterized features and costumes from the
original Segar illustrations,and have wooden attached loosely-hinged legs that allow them to
"walk". The dolls are marked with name of character and "1939 King Features Syndicate,Made
in USA,Pat No. 2140275" and the box is marked "Copyrighted 1939 ...Exclusive
Producers,Harding Products,1506 Chestnut St,Philadelphia,Pa.". Excellent condition,figures
near mint,box has one bend on curtain.
