Description
8" (20 cm.) largest. A collection of dolls in paper mache and bisque media,each depicting the
comic strip character,Foxy Grandpa,as he first appeared in the 1900 New York Herald comic strip
drawn by Charles "Bunny" Schutze. The larger bisque example has sculpted bald pate,painted age
wrinkles,large brows,spectacles,sideburns,and painted blue eyes. On his original cloth body he
wears factory original blue suit and tie. Also included is 4 1/2" paper mache example with
jointed arms and legs,and 4" example with jointed arms only,each with painted facial
features,spectacles,side burns,and painted costume. Excellent condition. The bisque model
marked COD by Cuno and Otto Dressel. Circa 1900.
