13" (33 cm.) All-composition doll with socket head,green sleep eyes,painted features,closed
mouth,lashes,blonde mohair ringlet curled wig,five piece composition body. She is wearing her
original blue cotton dress with ruffled and floral trim,undergarments,socks and shoes. Marks:
Madame Alexander New York (dress). excellent condition,costume missing hat,shoes and socks
not original. Alexander,circa 1935,the doll was advertised in Playthings of that year,inspired by
the Little Colonel film just released,based upon the stories of Annie Fellows Johnston concerning
a pretty 5-year old Kentucky girl of the Civil War period. A rare early model of the Alexander Doll
Company with especially pretty face.
