Description
17" (43 cm.) All-composition doll with one-piece head and torso,ball-shaped head with highly- characterized expression, large round eyes with "O" shaped black pupils glancing side-ways,tiny brows, tiny button-shaped nose, closed mouth with impish smile, blonde yarn hair in long braids, long skinny legs with hip-jointing,black stockings, large yellow painted shoes, jointed shoulders, wearing replica of the original costume. Original finish well-preserved except a bit of craquelure on legs, some matting of yarn braids. Designed by Joseph Kallus after the1925 comic strip character of Jack Collins, the doll was distributed by Borgfeldt, and then later, presumably,by Cameo. A rare and delightful doll, this version said to depict Little Annie Rooney as portrayed by Mary Pickford in the 1926 film. Circa 1926.
