Description
8" (20 cm.) Lithographed tin figure of Charlie McCarthy having hinged head,arms and legs,is
wearing a red,white and blue parade uniform (yet still retains his monocle and tall hat),and
walking behind a large wheeled parade drum with his image on the drum head along with the
words "Strike Up the Band" and "Here comes Charlie". When wound,he rotates his head,marches
along and beats the drum. Marks: Louis Marx,New York,pat. pend. Excellent condition of
lithography and mechanism,contained in its original box labeled "Charlie McCarthy The Drummer
Boy,with c. 1938 McCarthy notation and "pats. pending". Marx,circa 1938.
