14"(36 cm.) All-composition doll with socket head,highly-characterized features depicting the beleaguered Dagwood from the comic strip series,having sculpted center-parted brown hair,stuck-out ears,"O"shaped eyes,high comma brows,pointy nose,wide beaming smile,five piece body,and wearing original costume comprising checkered shirt,jacket and pants,and comfortable over-sized slippers. Marks: Knickerbocker. Excellent condition,few rubs on hair. The comic strip originated in 1930,drawn by Chic Young,and has remained an American favorite for more than 7 decades. This rare doll is seldom found and is in fine state of preservation. Circa 1940.
