Description
6" (15 cm.) An all-celluloid Henry with painted costume is standing upon a tin wheeled
platform with keywind mechanism,and is pulling a similarly-modeled all-celluloid
child,Snubby,in smaller size,with a sculpted red hat. When wound,Henry moves
forward,pulling the smaller child who is attached by an original string. Included is the original
box with illustrations of the toy,labeled "Copyright Carl Anderson/Henry/Trademark C.K/
made in Japan",Distributor George Borgfeldt Co. New York. Toy excellent,box worn. Late
1930s. "Henry" comic strip drawn by Carl Anderson,was introduced in the Saturday Evening
Post in 1932,and featured the adventures of the bald,speechless,young boy as he observed
the world around him. His uniquely drawn minimalist figure became instantly recognizable
and he remained a popular phenomena for many decades.
