Description
17"(43 cm.) Composition shoulder head with felt-like finish,painted blue eyes,thick black
eyeliner,dark eye shadow,curly lashes,single stroke brows,closed mouth with row of painted
teeth,blonde mohair wig,cloth torso,composition arms and legs. The doll is wearing her
original costume,comprising organdy dress over yellow cotton slip and panties,orange and
yellow felt collar and flower appliques,large orange felt cap,yellow socks,black shoes with
yellow felt floral buckles. Around her neck,the doll wears a copper medallion that is inscribed
"Madame Hendron,Everybody loves them"on one side,and "Good Luck"on the other. The
costume also bears the Madame Hendron cloth label. Georgene Averill,the doll was advertised
in 1929 as "head with felt finish",named "Val Encia",available in orange or blue,and was a clear
attempt to gather the blossoming market for Lenci dolls. Excellent condition,slight surface
dust.
