17"(43 cm.) Composition socket head with brightly-painted orange hair,painted large blue
side-glancing eyes,dark eye shadow,side lashes,high comma brows,long nose with red
tip,closed smiling mouth,composition torso,wooden arms and legs with jointing at
shoulders,hips and knees,composition feet with sculpted black laced shoes,original muslin
costume. Excellent condition. The doll has its original tag "Original Pinocchio as portrayed by
C. Collodi,Manufactured by Ralph A. Freundlich,Inc,200 Fifth Avenue,New York
City."Freundlich,circa 1940,the distinctive modeling of this Pinocchio and the clear reference
to the original creator of the storybook character evidences that Freundlich wished to
capitalize on the popularity of Pinocchio created by the new Disney film,yet avoid any issues
of license infringement. The doll is very rare and in pristine condition with original label.
