blonde/light brown hair with scalloped curls,blue outlined eyes with shaded detail,white
eyedots,outlined nose,closed mouth with bow-shaped lips,blushed cheeks,muslin stitch-jointed
body,wearing antique cotton dress and apron,undergarments,leather shoes. Marks: Columbian
Doll Emma L. Adams. (body stamp). Comments: circa 1893,the American doll,made by Emma
Adams,was exhibited at the Columbian Exposition of 1893 where it was awarded the Gold Medal
(the first American doll to win the international award) and thereafter became known as the
Columbian Doll. Value Points: important American doll with artistically painted features,most
