28" (71 cm.) Bisque socket head,large blue glass paperweight inset eyes,thick dark
eyeliner,painted dark curly lashes,mauve-blushed eye shadow,thick brush-stroked and multi-
feathered brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth,defined space between
the shaded and outlined lips,pierced ears,brunette mohair wig,cork pate,Bru composition and
wooden fully-jointed body,straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bru Jne 13.
Comments: Bru,circa 1890,the doll also carries the original boutique label of La Tentation
Guyot Bebes & Jouets at 5 Place de la Republique; Guyot located his doll shop at this address
in 1889,according to The Encyclopedia of French Dolls by Theimer,which date corresponds to
the doll production. The Bru bebe would likely have been a centerpiece of his doll wares.
Value Points: especially lovely quality of bisque and artistic decoration on this model,having
impressed chin and philtrum dimples,dramatic eye decorations,original and body
finish,superb antique dress and bonnet,leather shoes.
