Description
17" (43 cm.) Firmly pressed and oil-painted cloth head with flat-cut neck socket, painted short brown hair with brushstroked curls, brown downcast eyes with outlined irises and brown upper eyeliner, single-stroke brows, closed mouth, blushed cheeks, firmly-stuffed cloth body with well-defined knees, stitch-jointing at shoulders, disc-jointing at hips. Condition: very good, original painted finish with some darkening of painting, light spotting on arms and legs. Comments: Bing, the doll was produced for only a few years, 1921-1925 until a copyright lawsuit by Kathe Kruse caused to cease. Another example of the doll is shown in German Doll Encyclopedia oby Jurgen and Marianne Cieslik, page 28, wearing the identical very simple muslin dress with embroidered flowers on bodice, and undergarments. Value Points: rarely found doll with original painting and costume.
