Description
3" (8 cm.) x 4" painting. 7" x 9" frame. An intricately detailed miniature painting portrays a
young girl in a tea shop offering a tin container of tea ("the") to her little bebe,both the child and
the doll costumed fashionably in the 1885 manner. In the background,is the Chinese merchant
who appears to be suggesting other teas. The painting is signed L.L. French,circa 1885. Luigi
Loir is noted for his genre social scenes of fashionable children. This and the other Loir paintings
in this auction are from the Loir family archives. Excellent condition.
