17" (43 cm.) All-cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted facial features,painted brown hair with
sculptural details,curls swirling onto forehead,painted brown downcast eyes,black and brown
upper eyeliner,accented nostrils,closed mouth with wistful expression,stitch-jointing at
shoulders,separated thumb,disc-jointed legs,wearing country-style costume with
blouse,pinafore,skirt,cloth,knit cap,stockings,shoes. Condition: generally excellent. few rubs on
front of hair. Marks: 2175 (left foot). Comments: Kathe Kruse,circa 1915. Value Points: most
endearing expression on the solemn-faced child achieved by deeply modeled features and fine
artistic painting.
