Description
23" (58 cm.) Bisque shoulder head of adult lady with oval yet slightly plump face,blonde
sculpted hair with short forehead bangs below a high raised crown of waves and curls that are
held behind her pierced sculpted ears by a black beaded garland,and form into a cluster of
tiny ringlet curls at the back that center two wide loosely formed braids,painted blue eyes,red
and black upper eyeliner,single-stroke brown brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed
mouth with center accent line,sculpted bodice with ruffled collar,and a gilt-edged black cross
that suspends from a painted black velvet ribbon; old muslin stitch-jointed body,leather
arms,nicely costumed in lace gown and undergarments. Condition: generally excellent.
Comments: Alt,Beck and Gottschalck,Germany,circa 1875. Possibly a portrait model of
German Empress Augusta. Value Points: elaborate details of coiffure,hair ornaments,fancy
bodice,and jewelry form to create a regal presence.
