Description
8" (20 cm.) A wooden-framed box with decorative paper covers has accordian-like system with
mahogany front that centers a round glass window,and hinged back and top for insertion of
different scenes and light adjustment. Included are 16 original wood-framed paper scenes,some
with changeable day/night scenes,each a fine early engraving with enhanced varnished detailing.
Each of the slides is identified with old ink script paper on the reverse frame,including wonderful
early scenes of Paris,London,French provinces,and more. The front of the box has original label
"Polyorama Panoptique,Brevet d̴invention SG du Gouv.". Box excellent,slides very good to
excellent (a few with old repairs),and with partial and very worn original packing box. A rare find
with important early 19th century views. French,circa 1830.
