Description
5" (13 cm.) Each has bisque socket head with sculpted hair and uniquely sculpted facial features
to depict the characters Max and Moritz from the stories by Wilhelm Busch,Max with black
bobbed hair and band,chubby face with wide beaming smile,and Moritz with red hair having
pronounced topknot and side curls,oval face,watermelon-slice-shaped smile,and pointing
fingers; each with painted blue side-glancing eyes,loop-jointed bisque arms and legs,painted
shoes,antique costume. Condition: generally excellent,few paint rubs on hair of Moritz.
Comments: Kestner,circa 1915. Value Points: very rare all-bisque characters with wonderfully
impish expression,unique modeling on each.
