20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head with very plump face, delicate pale bisque, blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted dark curly lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with metal hands, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent, hands retouched. Marks: P 3 D. Comments: Petit et Dumoutier, circa 1878. Value Points: gorgeous early bebe whose very plump features are enhanced by delicate bisque, finest painting including subtle blush of cheeks and lips, original body, and splendid eyes.
