18" (46 cm.) All-wooden doll has one-piece head and torso,egg-shaped head with rounded
head,very high forehead,elongated slender neck,modeled bosom,tiny waist and broad
hips,wooden limbs with dowel-jointing at shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,enamel inset
eyes,sculpted ears,widely arched lightly feathered brows and lashes,thin line lips,defined
navel,spatula hands with defined nails,very shapely legs,the upper and lower legs designed to
form a clean line when the doll is standing,curving calves and tiny ankles with defined ankle
bones. Condition: structurally excellent throughout,probably early paint restoration that is
exceptionally fine. Comments: English,circa 1760. Value Points: very rare early wooden doll
with most expressive features,early rounded-back head,compelling expression,and very rare
body with wonderful legs and hands; included are her original quilted petticoat and stays,hip-
length hoop,skirt coin purse,kid slippers,along with a later lovely silk gown.
