Description
17" (43 cm.) lady. 5" child. Shoulder head woman of of earthenware or wood-composition has
elongated oval face and throat,very expressive features,defined throat hollow,brown enamel eyes
with heavy eyelids,aquiline nose,defined mouth as though about to speak,long early ringlet
curled wig,hemp-wrapped body,very expressively sculpted hands and feet,wearing original red
silk gown with metallic trim and crown. Condition: generally excellent,complexion especially
pleasing and original,some hand repair,one broken finger,two broken fingers on child.
Comments: Continental,late 18th century. Value Points: the expressively-faced lady holds her
original child which has superb detail of sculpting of hair and facial features,and having original
finish; finding mother and child intact is especially rare.
