14" (36 cm.) All-wooden carved polychromed figure of young lad, his head tilted to the side, brown carved hair waved away from her face into rolled-up curl at each side of face and forming into a pageboy curl at nape, large inset enamel eyes, carved parted lips and teeth, defined throat wrinkle, one-piece head and torso, mortise and tenon-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, wearing velvet and silk costume. Condition: generally excellent Genoese, late 1700s, attributed to the workshop of Pasquale Navone whose work included not only classical sculpting, but also creation of presepio, both in smaller size as this example, and in life-size mannequin size.
