15" (38 cm.) excluding hat. A bisque-head doll with blue glass eyes,painted features,open
mouth,row of teeth,blonde mohair wig,has carton torso and jointed arms and is joined to a
"skirt" of folded paper fortunes. Condition: generally excellent,original costume and fortunes a
tad dusty. Comments: French,circa 1890,the fortune-telling doll,known as "bebe a bonne
aventure" was created as a party favor,the guests would choose a fortune from the hundreds of
folded papers that formed her skirt. Value Points: original colorfully decorated costume enhances
the delightful party concept; rare-to-find the novelty party favor doll so intact.
