Description
12" (30 cm.) Each has earthenware head with tiny enamel inset eyes and painted facial features, hemp-wrapped armature body, earthenware lower arms and legs with painted stockings and shoes, including woman with sculpted hair in braided chignon held by red hair band, wearing silk costume with stiffened paper lining and lace detail; and man with curled tufts of hair below bald pate, wizened wrinkles on face, silk trousers and jacket. Condition: woman is excellent, man has some scuffs on face, three fingers broken. Comments: Neopolitan, early 1800s. Value Points: especially fine detail of woman's face and hair, original costumes.
