Description
16" (41 cm.) Of embossed pressed tin in the shape of a Chinese man,having sculpted detail of
costume,hands and facial features,and resting on a brass-edged border with embossed designs
of gargoyle heads. The figure,referred to as "Buddha" has amber painted complexion with
painted features including moustache and queue,and he wears a hat-shaped chimney. Excellent
condition,burner not included,paint is original and wonderfully preserved with very minor
rubs,and having intact gold stenciled design on lens cover. Marked "Brevete SGDG". French,Louis
Aubert,circa 1875. Provenance: ex-collection,Madame Petyt of Brussels.
