Description
15" (38 cm.) h. x 18"w. x 9"d. The wooden framed room with arched roof line has original marble-painted floor and tinsel-decorated papered walls, and is furnished with original pieces including an elaborate gilt-framed mirror centered by pineapple-shaped wall candle holders, oval table with carved and painted bone legs, matching side chair and demi-line table which is perched under the elaborately-draped side window. A tinsel wrapped chandelier is suspended from the ceiling and the table is laden with various accessories including mirror, clock, and small treasure box of jewelry. Standing in the room is a lady doll with carved wooden shoulderhead, ample bosom, painted facial features, blonde flaxen wig with long braids, cloth-wrapped armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue heeled shoes, wearing superb original costume with elaborate trims. The room has original glass-front wall which has wonderfully preserved the arrangement. Overall excellent condition. French, late 1700s, extremely rare, imaginative, and wonderfully-preserved.
