The doll has very expressive character features, brown enamel eyes, strongly defined nose and mouth, philtrum, and blushed details. The back of head is enclosed in a painted bonnet with sculpted rim,and at the side of face are traces of original flax hair. The taufling wrap and the bonnet are exquisitely decorated with embossed and painted floral designs within borders of painted lace and embroidery, and a very light coating of wax lends a rich depth to the painting. Condition: retouch on forehead and throat which may disguise a re-attachment of the head and body at the throat, facial painting and decorative taufling is original and well preserved. Value Points: extremely rare figure with superb detail of decoration and compelling characterization.
