Description
12" (30 cm.) All-cloth doll with firmly-pressed and oil-painted complexion, facial features and brown shaded hair with feathered details, separately stitched ears, dark blue eyes with all-around dark lashes, feathered brows, closed mouth, blushed cheeks, all muslin body with stitch-jointing, oil-painted limbs, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, wear on toe tips. Comments: Alabama Baby, Ella Smith, circa 1900, the dolls of Ella Smith received a Grand Prize for Innovation at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. Value Points: unusual small size with original finish wonderfully preserved. Private collection Lorna Lieberman.
