10" (25 cm.) Sculpted shoulderhead of woman, her head turned to the side and tilted downward, sculpted brown hair in tight chignon at her nape and held by orange hair band, enamel downcast eyes with heavy eyelids, closed mouth with gentle smile, hemp-wrapped body posed seated, with carved lower arms and legs, wearing original (frail) silk costume. Condition: generally excellent, original finish. Comments: early 1800s. Value Points: especially fine artistry of face and expressively-posed fingers, along with rush-woven cradle with all-wax baby.
