Description
10" (25 cm.) Earthenware shoulder head with
sculpted bosom,head turned to the side with very
expressive features,slightly open mouth with tiny
teeth,enamel eyes,brown sculpted hair with
tendrils of curls onto forehead and flowing curls
onto her front shoulder. She has a sculpted
gilt-edged red crown on her head,hemp-wrapped
body,earthenware hands and feet,very expressive
fingers,and is wearing her original costume and
carrying a basket of grapes. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: early 19th century. Value
Points: fine original painting and expressive
features and fingers,rare sculpted crown,original
costume.
