Description
21" (53 cm.) Solid-domed shoulder head,presumably
of earthenware,has sculpted white
hair,sideburns,moustache,beard and brows,and
depicts an aged man with well-defined age lines
and furrows,prominent nose,closed mouth with
downcast lips,painted downcast eyes,on original
muslin body with earthenware hands and feet.
Condition: generally excellent. Comments: early
20th century,maker unknown. Value Points: superb
characterization and artistic painting of
features,wearing his original folklore costume of
embroidered silk,fringed linen,with silver
belt,spurs,and accessories
