14" (36 cm.) and 13" (without stands). Each has earthenware head with sculpted head and hair,the woman posed with head turned sideways and having long flowing hair captured in a molded cap,and her mouth sculpted as though open; the man with wind-blown hair,sideburns and mustache,beaded teeth,ruddy complexion,each with enamel eyes,hemp-wrapped body,earthenware hands with very expressive fingers,sculpted boots,and wearing original elaborate silk costume. Condition: generally excellent,Comments: Neopolitan,early 19th century,the figures are presented on their original wooden bases. Value Points: superb characterization and sculpting,enhanced by fine artistic painting.
