13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead depicting Persian man with darkened sienna complexion, bald pate except tufted curl at crown, incised age lines at forehead, thick black brows, very thick black sculpted moustache, sideburns and neatly-trimmed beard, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted red stockings and yellow boots with blue rims, wearing original silk costume comprising brocade vest with lacing, green silk coat, sash, harem pants, turban and carrying sabre. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
