Description
4" shoulder width. 8" waist. 12" overall length.
Made of a very luxurious fabric of alternating
narrow stripes of black velvet and purple silk,the
one piece gown features a fitted bodice with
dart-shaped back,set-in long sleeves with
box-pleated purple silk trim with black velvet
edging at the shoulders that is repeated at the
cuffs and at the bottom hem line. The waist has a
fitted black velvet belt and purple silk
ribbons,and the gored back skirt has a demi-train.
There is some fraility and fading of the purple
silk. Circa 1865.
