Description
6" shoulders. 17" overall length. Of a tiny-patterned checkered design in blue and cream, the chambray cotton dress has nine-button front with hand-made button holes, wide rolled collar with pointed tips, long coat sleeves,flat-front with slightly flared sides,dart-shaped back, three double-box kick-pleats at the back. There are two pockets which are outlined in cream braid along with the collar, cuffs, front and kick pleats. The dress appears to have been constructed as a "seamstress sample" as the detail of original trim varies from right and left side, and the three kick pleats each have a variation of trim ranging from double width to single width to none; possibly the dress was offered in degrees of price depending upon trim. Circa 1880.
