Description
4 1/2" shoulder width. 10" waist. 15" overall
length. Of fine creamy color with interwoven
fabric design,the gown features a blouse with
pleated bodice,and long coat sleeves with sewn-on
wide pleated and lace-edged cuffs; an under-skirt
with fullness at the back and a pleated dust
ruffle; and an elaborately constructed over-skirt
with shirring detail at front and sides,and
created a voluminous back bustle. There is lace
edging at the bottom edge of the over-skirt and at
the neckline. Circa 1870.
