Description
4" shoulder width. 8" waist. 15" overall. Of very
fine silk faille in a delicate shale of green,the
two-piece fashion gown features a dart-shaped
jacket with snug fit over the hips,lapel collar
centering an insert panel with white pearl buttons
on hand-made button holes and horizontal metallic
braid trim that is repeated around the jacket
edges,lapels and cuffs,as well as on the skirt.
The flat-front skirt has an insert V-shaped front
panel with four rows of narrow-pleats,flanked by
horizontal draping around the sides. There are two
rows of narrow skirt pleats below the draping that
meet with a double-sided band of pleats that
extend down each side of the back and continue
into an extended train. The skirt has an unusual
low bustle at the back with hidden
string-adjustable shape. Other details include
muslin and lace all-around dust ruffle,tulle
collar and silk bows. Circa 1875.
