Description
3" shoulder width. 6" waist. 10" overall length. A
crisp natural silk gown is completely overlaid
with tartalane creating an airy,delicate
appearance,with dart-shaped bodice that appears to
be separate but is actually attached to the skirt.
The bodice features a rounded neckline and pouf
sleeeves. The skirt front is flat-panelled
although the full tartalane overlay created a
gathered look,and the back is very generously
shaped with bustled tartalane and demi-train. A
creamy torchon lace edging is around the
collar,sleeves,and bottom edge of bodice and
tartalane,and ivory satin bows and tiny rosebuds
add decorative touches. Circa 1865.
