Description
4" shoulder width. 12" overall length. Made of a
very fine white cotton fabric with alternating
shadow stripe of polished cotton,the flat-front
day gown has six pearl buttons and hand-made
button holes at the front centered by panels of
fine Argentan lace that extend over the shoulders
to form a lace frame at the dart-shaped back. The
lace trim is repeated as a jabot and at the
cuffs,and there is a scalloped lace edging at the
hem which,at the back,has a double-box-pleat
demi-train at the center. Circa 1870.
