Description
4" shoulder width. 12" overall length. 2 1/2"
inside head width. The gown,of horizontally-ribbed
white pique has flared sides with flat-front,and a
center box pleat with two smaller pleats at the
back from collar to hem giving a fullness to the
gown. The modified coat sleeves with flared cuffs
and the entire button-front and hem-line are
scallop-shaped and edged with thick overcast
stitching. There are pearl buttons and hand-made
button-holes and the collar is dainty embroidered
cut-work known as broderie anglaise. Along with a
lace and silk coiffe that captures the hair and
frames the face with a padded lace-covered
cap,large ivory faille bow,and lace ruffle (stain
on one corner of bow). Circa 1865.
