Description
2" shoulder width. 4" waist. 7" overall length.
Natural color bengaline silk gown is constructed
as one-piece although appearing to be a
three-piece ensemble. The fitted bodice has two
diamond-point shapes below the waist,3/4 sleeves
and an elaborate flounce at the back. The
flat-front skirt has a three-tiered arrangement at
the hem including scalloped layer, and the
arrangement is enhanced at the back with full
gathers. A bronze-green rick-rack decorates the
gown, with a delicate lace border at the neckline.
Circa 1860.
