Description
8" (20 cm.) x 10". Within a birdseye maple frame
with gilded interior border is a delicate
watercolor of a young girl holding her doll. The
girl,tentatively smiling,has center-parted hair
with short blonde delicate curls and wears a blue
patterned dress. She is tenderly holding a doll in
her arms,the doll with long ringlet black curls
and wearing a white gown and pantalets.
Unsigned,although a paper glued to the back
indicates "Ellen Grace Hall,taken Dec.
14,1845,aged 2 years and 5 months". Excellent
condition. American,circa 1845.
