Description
15" (38 cm.) Paper-Mache shoulder head with oval
face,strong throat,modeled bosom,angled sides of
shoulder plate with edge ridge. The lady has
larger ears,strong nose with upturned tip,blue
painted eyes with all-around eye liner and
brows,gentle smile on closed mouth,Her hair is
sculpted with formally arranged finger curls
emanating from a center part and nearly covering
the ears,and an extremely long braid at the back
that is coiled into a four-strand chignon. She has
a kid/muslin body with unusual stitching on lower
legs and hips,stitched and separated fingers,and
wears her early gown and undergarments,black
velvet sewn-on slippers. Condition: generally
excellent,the slightly faded finish is original.
Marks: Sibold (see photograph,two paper labels
inside shoulder plate). Comments: Attributed to
Johann Friedrich Muller,circa 1830. Value Points:
rare model with unique paper label,very elaborate
coiffure,original finish. bearing a blue ribbon
award from UFDC 1966 convention in Chicago.
