Description
13" (33 cm.) Fine lustrous porcelain shoulder head
with slightly pink-tinted complexion depicting an
adult lady with very slender face and elongated
throat,highly defined aquiline nose and
chin,pierced ears,painted features,royal blue eyes
with thick dark eyeliner,lightly feathered
brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with center
accent line. Her sculpted black hair is
center-parted and waved softly away from her
face, captured in a very fancy blue snood with blue
dots and having a shaded rose/magenta border and
bow at the crown. She has a French kid poupee body
with gusset-jointing and stitched and separated
fingers, and wears fine antique silk gown with
constructed hoop skirt,undergarments,and leather
slippers. Condition: generally excellent.
Comments: maker unknown,although stylized facial
painting and sculpture that are highly resembling
of Empress Eugenie,as well as her original French
body suggest a French origin, possibly early
Gaultier, circa 1860,on commission for Paris doll
firm. Value Points: extremely rare lady, whose
rarity is rivaled by her superb artistry and rarity.
