Description
17" (43 cm.) Un-tinted porcelain shoulder head with rounded facial shape,cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes,thick dark encircling eyeliner,painted lashes,lightly feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with center accent line,and blonde lambswool wig over cork pate. She has original softly-stuffed kid poupee body with gusset-jointing,pink-tinted porcelain arms to above the elbows,cupped hands with outlined nails,and is wearing an antique frail bronze silk gown,undergarments,leather slippers,and bonnet. Condition: generally excellent,old firing line on right arm. Comments: attributed to Leontine Rohmer,circa 1860. Ex-collection Madeleine Merrill and featured in her book The Art of the Doll. Value Points: beautiful clarity of porcelain,and rich cobalt eyes dramatized by eyeliner,nice cheek blush.
