Description
3" (8 cm.) painting. 5"h. frame. Within an
ebonized wooden frame with chamfered corners and
gilt metal lining is an unusual watercolor of a
young woman seen in profile. She has lovely soft
features and her hair,tied at the back crown with
a decorative comb,has a row of arranged horizontal
curls at the side of her face partially hiding her
ear. She wears a dark blue high-waisted dress with
fringed collar and ribbon tie at the throat.
Probably American,circa 1830. Excellent condition.
